Why Are Pull-Ups Important?

Pull ups are one the most foundational, simple, and functional movements, but it is often an elusive movement for many.  Whether you want to just be healthier and increase your fitness or you are in this for sport, upper body pulling strength should be a part of your plan.

Why Foundational?

Strict pull ups are the building block for kipping pull ups, butterfly pull ups, bar muscle ups, ring muscle ups, rope climbs and help develop a solid musculature and will transfer or compliment the majority of exercises found in your daily workouts.

CrossFit has defined functional movements as movements that are categorically unique in their ability to express power.  In other words, they are movements that are capable of demonstrating a large load being moved a long distance and quickly.

What is more powerful and awesome than the ability to move YOURSELF up, over, under, across, and through whatever may come your way!

Why this guide?

This guide was designed to help you get your first strict pull up or add to the number of strict pull ups you can do.  It can be done in 10-20 mins in addition to your daily WOD 4 times a week. Your success is dependent on consistency and putting in the work.
